Papilio 2012

«Papilio» is clearly designed for a permanent use as opposed to the temporary and mobile character of most folding chairs. A hinge combines the front frame with the rear triangle, tensioning both the leather seat and the backrest. This is the big innovation of this design, since most folding chairs with X-shaped frame use an additional element for the backrest.
The metal tubes of the frame are produced by a standard bending machine with no tooling cost. This makes all components easy to be manufactured, suitable for small-scale series and direct distribution through mail delivery.

Tubing: stainless steel, 16mm
Cover: calf leather
Status: prototype
